Welding Engineer

Provide knowledge of weld engineering, design, industrial engineering methods, manufacturing processes, and methods/efficiency analysis associated with manufacturing of welded components.
•Trouble shoot weld issues for both robotic and manual applications, implementation of change relative to the production floor, robot programming, methods of operation, efficient material flow, balancing work between cells, and supporting the maintenance and operation of this process.
•Work with other weld engineers, production supervisors, and the production workers to assure the production process meets factory goals for safety, cost, quality and productivity.
•Communicate and work with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment.
•Program weld robots.
•Participate on Continuous Improvement teams to identify and implement ideas to improve areas of safety, quality, delivery, and costs.
•Establish the routings, incentive standards, and quality plans for new or revised weld operations.
What It Takes




We need an excellent communicator who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering preferred), a related Technical Degree such as Welding Technology or a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience in a weld manufacturing environment is acceptable. In addition we require: •Experience with robotic and manual welding operations.
•Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
•Proficient in the application of Lean Manufacturing principles.
•Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•Ability to interact with salaried and wage employees.

A strong candidate will also have:
•Programming experience on both Fanuc and Panasonic weld cells.
•Simulation experience with Delmia software or other weld simulation programs.
•Experience with Industrial Engineering principles such as work measurement and setting standards.
•Project Management experience.
•Understanding of capital budgeting activities.
•Understanding of electronic tools such as Pro/E, VisView, or AutoCad for analyzing 3D models.
•Experience with electronic tools for creating Sequence of Events with associated work instructions •Experience in multiple functional areas of Manufacturing Engineering such as Facilities, Tool Design, Maintenance, Quality, etc.
•Experience in a union environment.
