ProEnergy's Professional Services Group provides technical specialists and project management personnel to our power generation, ethanol, refinery and oil and gas industry clients. Our vast network of trained personnel has worked for some of the industry's finest companies around the world.

Job Details:

Position work pieces and clamps together or assembles in jigs or fixtures.
Preheats work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
Ignites torch or starts power supply and strikes arc.
Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
Selects and inserts electrode or gas nozzle into holder and connects hoses and cables to obtain gas or specified amperage, voltage, or polarity.
Connects and turns regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flame.
Selects and installs torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
Guides electrodes or torch along weld line at specified speed and angle to weld, melt, cut, or trim metal.
Welds metal parts or components together, using brazing, gas, or arc welding equipment.
Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, using welding equipment.
Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position.
Inspects finished work piece for conformance to specifications.

Requirements:

There are 3 different levels of welders, all with different qualificaitons. This job description for the highest skill level. Candidates selected may have lower qualifications, with pay ranges reflecting the lower qualifications.

High school diploma/GED and/or 5 years experience with the basic GMAW (gas metal arc welding), SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), FCAW(flux cored arc welding), Oxy-fuel cutting, plasma arc cutting, and sub-arc welding.
Must have basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) knowledge.
Must know how to effectively use the following measuring devices and basic tools: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, angle finder, weld gages, clamps, and half clamp configurations. Along with safe porta-power operation and techniques.
Material handling equipment experience:
Must have ability to operate forklift safely.
Must have the ability and knowledge to rig properly and safely run an overhead style crane.
Machine list should include but not be limited to Miller and/or Lincoln power sources.
This position requires the knowledge of amperage, wire speed, and consumable replacement from liners, gas tips, and wire spool replacement on all the specified types of welding, including sub-arc, while still maintaining cost effectiveness.
Quality Standards and drawing Comprehension:
Identify basic welding symbols and components of a symbol (arrow, reference line, tail, size, length) in accordance with the current national welding symbol standard AWS A 2.4 along with ASME standards current edition.
Quality of welds shall be in accordance with D1.1 and ASME section 9 for judging undercut, porosity, and size of weld tolerances.
Must also understand warpage and heat placement to achieve flatness and overall part conformity to part specified tolerances.
Fit own assembly’s for weld completion when handed parts and prints for drawings.
Act as lead on all projects small or large with the ability to setup hydro for inspection when needed on vassals.
Pre-hire weld testing
All potential new hires for this level must pass a weld test for GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and sub-arc in accordance with ASME section 9.
All plate weld coupons are subject to CWI inspection, bend test, and X-ray before any applicant can be hired.
All level 3 coupons are standard carbon A-36 plate ½ inch in thickness in all positions.
Also reserve the right to require testing on stainless if there is a lack of experience in this area.
Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc).
Must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Preferences:

Essential Functions:
Physical requirements (lifting 35lbs frequently & up to 150 lbs using hoists, standing, bending,etc.)
Mental requirements (analyzing, interpreting, organizing, problem solving, etc.)
Equipment use (mig, tig, oxy/acetylene, air grinders, belt sanders, drills, positioner tables, abrasive blasting, chop saw, iron worker, computer, forklift, pallet jack, etc.)
Working conditions (indoors/outdoors, noisy environment, dusty, etc.)
Must have good hand to eye coordination.
Must be able to pay attention to detail.
Must learn how to use basic pneumatic grinding tools.
Must learn how to weld prep his parts.
Must learn how to blend contours.
Use basic hand tools for disassembly/assembly.
Use lifting equipment.
Ability to read, understand and follow instructions verbally and/or written (traveler) in English.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
